Where did it begin?
As one of the creators of #314together, I was inspired to take action when I saw the devastating effects that Covid was having on local businesses in my city of St. Louis. I wanted to do something to help reignite the flame of local support and give people a reason to be hopeful again. With the help of a small team of passionate individuals, we created an initiative that quickly grew in popularity, spreading hope and practical ways to support one another throughout the city. It wasn't long before #314together caught the attention of other cities, and we were able to expand our efforts to create the Together Movement, a group of local communities coming together to support and inspire one another during these challenging times. Despite the challenges we faced, it has been incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact that #314together has had on so many people, and I am grateful to have been a part of this movement.
Everything happened so quickly. Within a few weeks, this small initiative grew to over 15K people all entering REALÂ conversations about our local community, ways to support one another, and reasons to be hopeful. A branding project that was shared thousands of times over social media, turned into a facebook group that gave practical reasons to fight for one another. This quickly grew outside of our city, and was picked up by neighboring cities across the nation. Over the next couple weeks, we created The Together Movement. A family of groups in each local city led by individuals in their community bringing people together who needed it the most. This initiative is still alive today, and continues to socially inspire one another through a team of passionate individuals.
