THE JOURNEY

An Overview - not just a single organization

The Journey is a group of non-profit organizations that are dedicated to serving the local community through acts of goodwill and providing financial and emotional support. The Journey's partners include a range of organizations such as Mission St. Louis, which provides job training for ex-felons, Covering House, which offers refuge for survivors of sex trafficking, and Karis House, a full-service counseling center. These organizations operate out of various buildings and locations across the city, and work to make a positive impact on the lives of people every day of the week. The Journey is based on spiritual principles and is committed to making a difference in the lives of those in need.

In-House Experience

As Lead Art Director for The Journey, I was responsible for crafting the visual narrative that inspired and motivated people to take action. As an organization that relies on emotional storytelling to inspire and motivate its community, it was my job to consistently create authentic and compelling content that would move people to be their best selves in serving those around them. One of the main challenges in my role was maintaining authenticity while still emotionally moving people. It was important to strike a balance between inspiring and motivating our audience, while also being genuine and authentic in our messaging. Because The Journey was a constant presence in the lives of many people, it was important to avoid any signs of inauthenticity that could undermine the relationships we had built.

My Beautiful Journey

As the Lead Art Director for The Journey and its partners for over 4 years, I played a crucial role in crafting the visual narrative that inspired and moved people to take action. In this role, I was responsible for authentically telling a consistent story that people could trust, leading a team of employees and volunteers in effectively communicating this message. Throughout my time with the organization, I faced challenges such as navigating three restructurings of the organization, crisis management, and rebranding efforts. I also played a key role in developing the brand messaging for new locations and launching seasonal campaigns that were easily understood and implemented by thousands of people in their local contexts. It was a challenging but rewarding role that allowed me to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the people served by The Journey and its partners.
